Mission Statement

I Can Because I'm A G.I.R.L is a volunteer organization formed to educate,  empower, and encourage young women to understand the reason they were created and equip them with a basic foundation needed to unlock the unlimited potential that lies within them.

We celebrate unique individuality while drawing strength from the realization that every woman is Gifted, Intelligent, Resilient, & Loving!

We provide a hands on method of instruction and education to teach our young women how become the women leaders of tomorrow.

We promote a creative means of positive reinforcement through the arts and community service.

History

EMichele Paul, Executive Director of G.I.R.L, founded G.I.R.L in June 2011. Initially, she wanted to combat the stereotypes of women portrayed in the media by reaching a million young women and letting them know that they were perfectly created. As she began to interact with young women, she saw a need to build an alumni of positive women role models to teach, mentor, and emphasize the importance of women's virtues to tomorrow's women leaders, philanthropists, and professionals.  She reached out for support to Flora Montes who is a Community Activist, Chef and Poet. Flora gladly accepted and became a Co-Founder and Northern Regional Director.

The organization is designed to create confident and educated women leaders who are able to standout, in their own right, as persuasive and  innovative decision makers in every aspect of life. It consists of a Jr. Board of Directors and a peer to peer mentorship program that will enable the G.I.R.Ls to develop their own leadership style while working in the community. There are also classes, panel discussions and quarterly Community Action Projects designed to give back to the community while providing  the young women first hand experience in planning, coordinating, organizing, and executing projects.

How can you donate?

Volunteer - We are always seeking volunteers who can donate 8 hours per month or more of their time in the Food Bank (N. County San Diego) or in New York.

In-Kind Gifts - food, school supplies, coats, socks, gloves.

Monetary - Your financial donations will ensure that the affects of our mission reach communities across the nation. With your help, we can continue to mentor young women, provide valuable educational and health resources, and spread our message of empowerment.

As we grow in resources,  we will be able to assist more young women across the country, offer a 1-800 hotline and support, increase staff, training, pamphlets, flyers, participate in community events, and host and organize local events.
